On January 12, 2010 the Port-au-Prince Haiti area was devastated by a major earthquake causing unimaginable destruction and loss of life. More people were killed than in the Thailand tsunami of 2004. Those left alive have lost family, homes, and jobs.
Imagine the entire population of Loveland, Ft. Collins, and Greeley homeless and living in makeshift tent cities. Imagine all of Denver entirely dependent on outside aid to eat and have the most basic care.
The elders suggest we contribute individually through one of the many established Christian organizations that know how to help effectively in this situation. Some links are listed here for your convenience. Any of these groups will use your contributions to assist the Haitians while glorifying God.
Please pray for the people of Haiti and those who are trying to help them.
If you have or can load and run Google Earth, go to Port au Prince, Haiti and fly around. The site has been updated with high resolution sattelite imagery from after the earthquake. You can take your own tour around the devastation.

"Suppose a brother or sister is without clothes and daily food. If one of you says to him, "Go, I wish you well; keep warm and well fed," but does nothing about his physical needs, what good is it? In the same way, faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead." James 2:15 |

| This will be a long term relief effort. Haiti was already the poorest country in the western hemisphere. It will take years to rebuild them. Plan on choosing one or more relief agencies and supporting them with money, material, volunteer time, prayers, and encouragement. |
